Nose: Mown hay & cracked black pepper. Red bell peppers, nutmeg, clove oil & green tea. Sweet honey & peaches from the Malaga casks.
Taste: Honey sweetness with pot still spices. Flavours of fresh coffee, creamy milk chocolate & Crème Brûlée. Notes of red apples & toasted oak. Its finish is sophisticated & complex with a sweetness throughout, followed by a mix of red grape & dry barley upon exit.
Yellow Spot whiskey owes its name to a longstanding tradition upheld by the Mitchell family, who meticulously marked their aging whiskey casks with vibrant daubs of paint. This practice served as a visual indicator of each cask’s aging potential, with distinct colors denoting varying maturity levels. Among these, Blue Spot represented an 8-year-old, Green Spot a 10-year-old, Yellow Spot a 12-year-old, and Red Spot a 15-year-old whiskey.
Yellow Spot, a Single Pot Still whiskey, stands as an emblem of Ireland’s whiskey-making prowess, a distinction attributed not only to Ireland but also to the Midleton Distillery in Co. Cork. This unique style of whiskey embodies the essence of Irish heritage and craftsmanship. Crafted from a meticulous blend of malted and unmalted barley, Yellow Spot undergoes a triple distillation process in traditional copper pot stills, resulting in a spirit renowned for its rich, multifaceted flavours and velvety smooth texture.
